How Gender Theory Self-Destructs

If you want to describe modern Gender theory, you should cite people like John Money, who argued, “Gender is a social construct.” Or Judith Butler, who said, “Masculine and feminine roles are not biologically fixed but socially constructed.” These leading thinkers of the theory all seem to argue that gender is a social convention or social construct, rather than something grounded in objective or observable reality. And because they are conventions, that means that they must be voluntarily participated in. No one should be forced to adopt or participate in social conventions.
And it’s on this basis that gender theorists can argue that traditional Christian notions of gender, based on traditional beliefs about the nuclear family are social conventions that should not be imposed on people who do not conform to them.
But if that's true, that means that conventions and practices inspired by gender theory are, on their own view, also social conventions which is why they have no more grounds to force people to participate in those conventions than conservatives can force people to adhere to traditional conventions.

I am very sad to hear that you only tried one Orthodox Church and were so turned off that you stopped visiting any others. Ukraine is a very Catholic country… I went to a Serbian Orthodox Church and had a similar experience… but that was once I was already Orthodox… im not sure when you converted, but Orthodoxy is much more welcoming than it used to be but the Russian churches are intense… not gonna lie..

There are quite a few points you make that I think are determined by your learning thru Catholicism… vs.. E.O.C. lol OMG Constantinople fell to the Turks because of the multiple roman crusaders attacking and finally sacking Constantinople!! This was a Christian Constantinople that fell to Islamic Turks. Roman jealousy over the seat of Christianity being moved to Constantinople by Constantine was something they never got over… so, the Roman Patriarchate declared war on the 4 ancient patriarchates that stayed together… Temper tantrums… Roman focuses on the “first” while E.O.C. Focuses on “among equals”… EOC is committee based… Rome is Pope based. Pope is just Latin for Patriarch… There is a lot of history here that is conveniently left out… but it’s also a lot of history to talk on so you focused on what YOU used to decide for Catholicism… I too was going to convert to Catholicism before I found out about the EOC… I was swayed to the EOC for my own historical, doctrinal and personal reasons. I love Greek Orthodoxy so much… it taught me how to be a human being…(I was raised by wolves)… I have issues with the Catholic Church that are nonexistent in the Orthodox Church… personally I am way more comfortable in Orthodoxy that Catholicism… But it woulda been a decision between the two for my Christian path… as well…

Atheist, but not a satanist. I don’t think atheism and his brand of satanism go together. But two genuine questions here: 1. Do you believe his story? And not in the sense of “oh well I believe that he believes it.” Do you believe what he says happened? 2. Have you ever had a spiritual experience like this? Doesn’t have to be with satan.

I'm recently coming back to the Church and was predisposed to the traditional side of things. However, I came to a church that one side has the "traditional" Catholicism railing against the Pope as he reaches out to communities for their conversion while some like Bishop Strictland literally quote letters to huge groups applying Rev 17 to Pope Francis, characterizing him as an antipope. Then on the other side you have the Synodal Way in Germany railing against Pope Francis and attempting to push full acceptance of sins and conforming to the world. I feel for a Pope trying to keep Catholicism united in the face of both these perspectives yelling so loudly as to shake the Church foundations. It has made it stressful coming back, even my father has been looking into Orthodoxy for years, as I found when I told him I want to come back. He does not like Francis, while as someone reforming from homosexuality and coming back to the Church I love the Pope, especially after an initial bad feeling to him because I saw him as endorsing a sin I struggled with resisting. Then I looked into it, prayed for him, and realized he is actually the exact Pope I needed who is against homosexual acts while TRULY loving people struggling with it-something I never saw in the church when I left because of loud voices blaming those struggling with homosexuality for the abuse scandal. There is actually believing in Catholic teaching, then there is someone so predisposed to "tradition" and Latin mass and pride to the point of ignoring facts of Vatican I etc. All that said I love going to Latin mass, but I see the devil in this campaign to delegitimize and have bad feeling toward Pope Francis. You have traditionalists harsh to Francis, while clapping for "traditional" Bishops in Uganda who want to jail someone for succumbing to sin for LIFE. I see that as twisted.

This is the analysis (in the video and comments) that I have been waiting for. It's a complex issue for me, because as a religious person I believe gender and sex are both eternal parts of our identity and mostly the same thing. Here's my viewpoint: Biological and eternal sex is a fact. Our bodies are male/female; so are our spirits, and the sex/gender inform the development of the body. In my religion, I've learned that women and men are each assigned specific roles and responsibilities. It makes sense to me that their wiring should match their assigned roles (which is where the "gender" part of the question gets hairy for me). Because if a man's primary role is to provide for his family--maybe then there is a biological reason for him to like to hunt or barbecue. But it doesn't mean (especially in modern times) that he has to do those things or even like them. So there's an imposed construct that is so much more than the roles originally intended for us. You're man who likes pretty things? Great! So did men in the 1700s. They didn't think they were women. You like sparkly things? So do all kinds of male creatures, so what? You like to nurture and take care of others? Sweet! That's an awesome gift, it doesn't mean you're not male! We don't need to assign all human traits to different boxes because then we just have to add more and more new boxes for all the variations we can find. It gets to be a mess because we messy little kids here on earth invented it.

  • @averyroscoe91

Modern society has already dismantled traditional notions of gender. Men can stay at home with the family. Women can go to work and provide. Technology has reduced the physical differences or barriers between sexes, ie., strength is not the sole determining factor for many occupations when machines can do the work. Beyond the obvious demarcation between who fertilizes whom, who gestates what, who lactates, etc., there are diminishing distinctions between the sexes. And, since gender is now divorced from sex due to the wide-ranging nuances of what gender actually is (language/clothing/societal roles, etc.), gender is mutable and not solely tied to the physical reality of sex. However, since it is a concept, an "idea" that fluctuates based upon a culture or a period in time, there should be no such thing as a "transgender" person, because, as many have rightly stated, it's a concept that exists solely in the mind. Maybe it's in the collective conscience, but it's no more real than, say, "politics" or something similar. We are at a defining moment, however, because we, as a society, have to have the majority agree on this new view of gender in order for it to stick as a new social contract.

You're a big liar. The cases that you mentioned isn't about imposing gender pronouns were more about the discrimination against the transgender people on the cases than the improper use of pronouns. In the case EN v. Gallagher’s Bar and Lounge you mentioned at 4:49 the problem was that the owner refer to their transgender employees with slurs to the clients of the bar. According to a summary in the case found on the internet: "Each of the three applicants worked at Gallagher’s Bar and Lounge and used they/them pronouns. The applicants specifically requested that the bar’s owner, their employer, use their proper pronouns, but he would not. He also used an anti-trans slur [tranny] when he spoke to customers about the applicants, and in so doing, 'outed' the applicants, which caused them to fear for their safety." In the case Nelson v Goodberry Restaurant Group at 5:20 the problem was that the transgender employee was fired because he was transgender. In specific, it was that the bar manager of the restaurant (Gobelle) was persistently misgendering a transgender employee (Nelson), the employee asked for management (Kingsberry) to intervene. The main issue here was that management admited that the bar manager was in the wrong and the complaints were valid. So, the bar manager was harassing the transgender employee but management did nothing. Then, when a discussion escalated between the manager and the transgender over their discriminiation, management chose to fire the transgender employee, I insist, after admiting that the complaints of the transgender employee were valid. According to a summary in the case found on the internet: "Jessie Nelson is a non-binary, gender fluid, transgender person who uses they/them pronouns. They worked as a server for Buono Osteria, a restaurant run by the respondents Michael Buono and Ryan Kingsberry. The respondent Brian Gobelle was the bar manager. During their employment, Mr. Gobelle persistently referred to Jessie Nelson with she/her pronouns and with gendered nicknames like “sweetheart”, “honey”, and “pinky”. Jessie Nelson asked Mr. Gobelle to stop, and he did not. They asked management to intervene and were told to wait. On their final day of work, Jessie Nelson again tried to speak to Mr. Gobelle about this issue and the discussion grew heated. Four days later, they were fired. Pressed to explain the termination, Mr. Kingsberry told Jessie Nelson that they had simply come on “too strong too fast” and were too 'militant'. [....]" "[the Employer] did not tell Jessie Nelson that the employer intended to ‘mediate’ between them and Mr. Gobelle. Accepting for the moment that this was indeed [the Employer’s] intention, and that it was well-meaning, the idea was misguided. This was not a conflict between two employees who simply held different opinions or did not like each other. This was a matter of discrimination. Given that the employer had accepted that Jessie Nelson’s complaints were valid, all that remained was to correct Mr. Gobelle’s behaviour. This was the employer’s responsibility and not Jessie Nelson’s. The employer is responsible for ensuring a healthy work environment"

If they just wanted to wholesale reject some social constructs, then cool. Whatever. Live your life. But both things cant be true at once. It cant be “well there are no rules, but you HAVE to refer to me as blah blah blah.”

The Ranbow Brigate are neo-Marxists. Marx's Communist Manifesto clearly spells out that the socialist movement must employ double standards and hycocracy, using tyrannical action while vilifying the opposition for using tyrannical action, even if (especially if) the opposition isn't using such tyrannies. Hypocracy and double standards, strawmanning, malicous defamation, dehumanising levels of group-think, are fundamental tools in the arsenal of the Marxist.

I agree with you up to a point. Gender, being a social construct is not an absolute. And you are as free to choose to which ones you will adhere as transgender people are. And this is in no way similar to realities like gravity. However, sex, the biological reality, is nowhere near as binary and simple as you make it sound. There are people (rare though they may be) who are born with ambiguous sexual anatomy. There are people with an extra X or Y chromosome, resulting in XXY, XXX, and XYY configurations. AND sex CAN be changed. It's called a sex-change, and they've been going on for a while. As for "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," that's easy to say, if you've never been beaten up for being different. For some people, it has been broken for a long time, and for compassion's sake, we should try to fix it. But I suggest we try to fix it where your video started: Acknowledge that it's a construct, allow each person to make such choices for themselves, and try always to err on the side of compassion rather than hostility.

Feminism has always been nothing but a branch of communism. Just as communists want to erase social classes, feminists want to erase gender. The gold standard for feminism is "like a man", because masculinity is the wealth they want to take from men and redistribute to women. If gender is a social construct, then women aren't real. We're all the same, so we don't need women's locker rooms. Children don't need mothers, so men can take women's places in marriage and parenthood. And if there are no gender requirements for weddings, how can there be gender requirements anywhere else? But if gender is a social construct, then so is transgender. So transgenderism's excuse for existing is also its refutation. And if gender is a social construct, then so is being gay. You can't be born with an attraction to your own gender, if you're not born with your own gender. Being gay inherently requires breaking traditional gender roles, but it contradicts itself by requiring absolute belief in traditional gender definitions. If gender is a social construct, everyone would be bisexual. But if gender is not a social construct, same-sex marriage can't exist.

It’s very easy to say Christianity makes a nice society and it’s all because of religion and the Bible, but try living 500 years ago under the church, it’s only because we have stopped believing rigidly stopped being fundamental in the most part that Christianity is acceptable. The same cannot be said about Islam, which is what Christianity was 500 years ago. So I do get Dawkins it might sound confusing but without the religious side without believing in God some of the Christian traditions are very nice you don’t have to believe to appreciate something.

Both sex and gender are not binary, there are more than two sexes and more than two genders. Humans, as well as animals do not have binary sex, and animals do not have gender since it's only specific to humans, this is not something new, it's a discovery biologists have made but which hasn't become mainstream. The question you have to ask yourself is do you want to push people away from you or do you want to live a regular life without much conflict, do you want to argue with someone for having they/them pronouns or would you rather avoid conflict If someone has the courtesy to use your correct pronouns (he/him, she/her) you should have to use their correct pronouns as well, they're not asking you to believe in gender identity, they're asking you to name them correctly. Pronouns are like names, and I'm sure you wouldn't want someone to name you incorrectly.

The problem is that the UN has bootstrapped many of the world's companies into their 17 sustainable goals with financial punishment for those who don't comply and gender identity politics are one of those 17 goals and education has also been hijacked by their core and sel teaching. In fact the UN is a theosophical cult. The best way to get rid of all of this is to defund the UN and invest in anti ESG.

I honestly don’t remember all the fancy phrases from college in the early 90s, but here we go. If gender is a social construct, then why do these theorists conflate it with biological sex? Even if we got rid of a=how masculinity is performed and b=how femininity should be performed, (which is very restrictive, and who gets to decide that anyway?) it doesn’t change the idea that sex (ie the physical visible characterics) exist on people’s bodies. So I left college thinking gender theory won’t get much further than that. I blinked and a decade later, it seems like the gender theorists are now in fact coming for that immovable wall. I believe it’s a small but very vocal minority and their allies who are terrified and guilt-ridden. What further surprised me is how the narrative effectively does away with homosexuality but reframes it as being stuck in the wrong body. In effect the trans community is cannibalizing the LGB community that offered them care and support.

There is nothing progressive about gender ideology. In fact it’s deeply conservative.

My favorite way to break ppls minds for a few minutes is explaining that just because something is a social construct doesn’t mean it’s completely subjective or removable. When animals eat other animals it’s killing. If an animal humps another animal (dolphins and literally anything) it’s sex. Murder doesn’t exist to animals neither does rape those are crimes. We have a social construct that applies conduct to killing and sex. I don’t think anyone would say those two should be erased or can be simply because they’re constructs that don’t tangibly exist.theres no literal pillar that enshrines it but their is truths we know and results we don’t like thus we have laws and even if we got rid of the laws we’d feel it’s wrong.

Gender is NOT a construct !! It’s biology !! You either have a penis or a vagina.

You have already undermined your case. Two parts of your establishment punished two restaurants because of immoral laws are in place. Just like the UK our views are oppressed, for the sake of “ inclusion” 😂😂😂

Good call! And this is what distinguishes Queer/Gender Theory (which creates a counter meta-narrative) from post-modernism (which rejects all meta-narratives). The woke movement (referring to the collective of the "critical theories") is a secular cult.

I like the Ancient Greek idea for reference where pain, our existential being is determined by the Dionysian/Apollonian dialectic. Emotion and reason need to be both used and appreciated because they work best in concert. When one is rejected for the other they believed it leads to disaster.
